I like the take that the Vision Pro (or whatever it will be called in the future) is about replacing so many other device-functions. But I still have a hard time wrapping my head around something wrapping around my head, even as someone who wears glasses. What I wonder is how much more do humans want this tech to be part of their body? The resurgence of some forms of analog media suggests that there might be a limit to how much virtual experience we’ll take. Or it’ll be just like every other leap forward of media technology: once porn get there, it’ll take off.

Hey Jim, Thanks for reading! I think people will be just fine using this technology all the time... just look at how many times per day we look at our phones. I understand that this isn't a GOOD thing, but it's a thing. The seductiveness of ease makes it hard to avoid using such devices all the time. We'll have to build new muscles to make conscious choices about how we spend our attention... which is no new idea but that doesn't mean we've made much progress.

I frequently say most recent advances in technology have been change without progress! And I do think there will be folks who adopt the eyewear enthusiastically followed by those who do it because that’s just the way it is. And I assume it’ll come with more functionality than Google Glass. I just wonder if it’ll see the rate and kind of adoption as the smartphone. There are already people who NEED to wear glasses that won’t do it (I’m thinking of the wife o’ mine). So far, anyway, we’ve been more accepting of physical extension in the form of the physically distinct, a la smartphones and go in for the prosthetic only when absolutely necessary. All that said, if I was any good at guessing what the masses were going to do next, I’d be a rich man!
