Thanks so much for reading! Yeah, I tried to figure out Apple, but couldn't quite make it fit in the time and space allotted... perhaps I was just thinking that Apple would be the company in that scenario that would manage to be a platform for both sides?

On your notion that it's "unlikely for things to get that segregated," I hope you're right. The one indication that this isn't all THAT farfetched is that there are an increasing number of places that no longer accept CASH. "Is that even legal?" I once asked. "I don't know," was the reply from the minimum wage sales clerk.

After a little digging, it seems to be a States issue. In Oregon, for example, businesses MUST accept cash. On the Federal level, though, not so much. See links below.

Hmmm... no Apple circle?

I'm close to an Indie already, but strikes me as unlikely for things to get that segregated (businesses would lose too many customers). But certainly various kind of 'special deals' will proliferate.
